The
map from which this extract is taken was published as part
of Rammell's Report on the condition of public health in
Aberdare in 1853. Heol-y-Felin (Trecynon) is one of the
major centres of settlement in the Parish at that date.
Settlement is also concentrated in Aberdare Village and
in the vicinity of the three Ironworks at Hirwaun, Llwydcoed
and Abernant.
